My babies are 4 weeks old and are still being fed newly hatched brineshrimp and microworms....3-4 times a day.

So what next ?.....the babies are a good 10-12mm long and eating like made. Is there any frozen food i can start weaning them onto ? (i'm not a lover of flake/dried food)

I will continue hatching brine shrimp as i had another spawning on thursday so i can continue feeding this if necesary.

Any suggestions most welcome.

Andy

i would keep them on the bbs, forget the microworms now as they are quiet big now, they are still at a critical age of growth so need the bbs its a good idea to get them slowly weaned onto flake as when you get them to new homes they will be difficult to wean at an older age

Thanks mate...the only reason i give them MW's is because i sometimes forget to start a BBS culture going....and it's just something different for them.

Apparently at week 5, its good to start feeding them daphnia.

Thanks for the replies.

Babies are 6 weeks on wednesday and are mainly feeding on BS. I've tried them with finely crushed flake but you can see them eating, and then spitting the food out.

I'm getting a little concerned that when these fish are ready to be sold to lfs, they won't be eating flake.

Anything i can do...what would you suggest ???

many thanks

Andy

i dunno if your selling too a chain petstore but they tend to only want males once theyre big and pretty..... aka 3-4 months....

Nope...it's my first ever spawning and i'll happily give them away to any private hobbyist who wants to pick them up. But i wont give away to shops who sell on for a profit and i would expect a small credit note with the shops for the fish i have bred....just to re-coup some of the costs.

start feeding them anything you can. the more variation the better they do. Offer them flake and pellet food, followed by chopped prawn and fish. Then add grindle or white worms. Finally add some baby brineshrimp.
