Another Question About Stocking And Blue Acaras

Ok as some know I have 3 young Blue acaras. these guys I could only find online shipping in not cheap. luckily the fish are.

So they are only 2" but growing fast. I'm pretty sure they are all males. It's just my luck I'm starting to think no one sells females. Every one of my cichlids all 8 of the ones I have ever had were all males I count the 3 I have now. I got to balloon rams Both males. I had 2 keyholes now only one both males. my Bolivian ram thought it was female no it's a male. Now my 3 babies they act like brothers fighting chasing NO LOVE. Its only been a week but still I don't see any sign of pairing up.


So my question is this. Do i just keep my 3 boys for my 55 gal tank. Or do i try again and get 3 more like i planed to do. I'm thinking what if i end up with 6 males then i will have to rehome them. I feel like it would be a waste of money. I could order some for cheap but I'm afraid to order from another place.


What would you do?
buy 3 or 4 more, or just keep the 3 boys you have?

if you really want to breed them then I would get some more my self.

Buy three more from a different source and then you will probably have unrelated pairs forming. I think you'd have to be damned unlucky to not get a pair from six fish.

As for your three not showing signs of pairing off yet, they have only been in the tank a while and probably haven't settled yet. I have bought a proven pair of Red Tiger Motaguense, but they don't act or even look like a pair in my tank yet, and thats after nearly a Month and half.

i wouldn't expect juvi's to pair up after such a short time. so i wouldn't worry about that so soon. i have 3 red rams 1 male 2 female and no pairs (after 3 months) although i'm sure that if i took 1 female out the others would pair up, at this stage i'd just be trying to determine the sex.

I know they are still young but I have a gut feeling they are males. But I have been wrong before so I hope I'm now. I just got a free tall 48 gal tank so I feel better about getting more fish. I will buy 3 more from another place.
