hello there, Do you agree that both the platy and the guppysare pregnant, and if so how long to go?

The guppy in the center of the picture has probably less than 2 weeks to go. The platy may or may not be carrying fry. If she is, the fry are not very developed yet at all. I cannot see the shape of the bottom guppy well enough to say anything about it.

thanks oM47. The three female guppys have identical body shapes and colours except the osdd slight red flash in part of the tail

this is todays photo...sorry for blurryness. they are more squared off after feeding, does this mean they probably arn't pregnant, just full of eggs maybe?

It is more likely the fish have been eating well. The heavy front part to their torso is eating well and is not "squared off". When a fish is squared off, the line along the bottom of its abdomen will be level, not rising toward the back like on that fish.

OK so far we have 5 fry, we moved all 3 girlies to a birthing 48L tank last night and looks like it did the trick. all three are hiding by the filter, so I cant see whose babies they actually are. we'll see who gets skinny first! lol

EDIT well it was the yellow tailed one...Jeune.... don't know how many she had but they all seem to have been cannabalised. either by her or one of the others. I watched her eat the last one born...why do guppy fry swim up into theirs awaiting mums mouths and platy fry have the sense most of the time to swim away

Guppy fry will hide if they have a good hiding place. I find a nice big clump of java moss saves lots of fry from a guppy drop, even in a crowded tank full of adult guppies.
