another one of those stupid stocking questions

ok so I have a 20g high with 2 breeding kribs, 6 harlequin rasboras, 3 cories. The two otos in the tank died 2 days ago after having for 8 months (very unexpected death) so I was thinking of replacing with a bullnose pleco (aka rubberlipped pleco) they get about 5" max length and atm are 1.5" or less. Could I put him in the 20g, would he need to be moved when bigger (if so I'm setting up a 20 long I could plan to have him in at some time).

not speaking from experience but I would suggest the rubbernose/bulldog/rubberlip pleco you spoke of. They get to 3" i believe and should do a good job cleaning your tank. BTW could you post dimensions?

dimensions of my tank? sure it's 24" x 12.5" x 16" when I say 20 high I mean not 20 long (could have called it 20 reg to I guess). Hey if they stay even smaller then I thought that's excellent sounds like I'll be getting a new fish tomorrow .

I assume you know all about quarantine and acclimation and blah blah blah blah,

You should check atleast 2 other sources on each new fish you buy IMHO.


EDIT: did you read the index link I gave you. It says it should do fine in your tank as long as it is cycled and not overstocked.

bristlenose pleco, just make sure you supplement their diet with veggies or something

torrean yep know all about quarantine all fish get atleast a week or 2 quarantine more if I see any problems. drip acclimation for me and zuchinni and algea discs for him too I got it , tank has 6 harlequin rasboras, 2 kribs, 3 cories in it so I don't think it's over stocked and I don't think that 1 small plec will put it over the top. It's been running for nearly 10 months now so I think it's cycled lol ;-)

sir minion just informed me that rubbernose plecs get to 5" not 3". The index was wrong I guess.

yep he told me too but I got the fish and when he starts getting bigger I've got a 20 long that I will be sure there is enough room for him to go into.
