Please see my first attempt of breeding angels. Unfortunately non of the fries got to free swimming stage.

11-Oct: Noticed the pair cleaning the filter pipe again and chasing away other fish. Moved them to a 10g tank (Sorry don’t have anything bigger). Started giving them mixture of frozen and live food.
16-Oct: Noticed male making pass over the side of the pot but no eggs laid by the female yet. Not sure why he was doing it.
17-Oct: Sometime between 13:00 and 17:00 female laid eggs.

This time I decided to leave the parents with the eggs and let them take care of it.

18-Oct: Few eggs turned white. Didn’t see the parents removing them the whole day. I would have thought they would remove infertile egg as this may cause fungus problems. During the day I noticed the parents staying close to the eggs and fanning them. At night I saw about half the eggs turning white. I don’t think male was successful in fertilising the eggs (maybe wasted most of his sperms on 16-Oct when make pass over the pot without any eggs)

19-Oct: Noticed most of the clear eggs were gone. At about 10 a.m. saw female eating the remaining eggs from the pot. Just before that noticed a strange thing the male and female were locking jaws and showing real aggressive behaviour. For one minute I thought this is going to get ugly and I should move them in the main tank. Luckily it stopped.
Anyone any idea regarding the jaw locking behaviour?

So at the end of today no eggs and no fries.

thats what mine used to do, always got to the first day off swimming stage, bearing in mind the first 6times the eggs got eaten, i later found out from the new owner that the dad would protect the eggs, raise them to free swimming then eat them once the started swimming
maybe yours ate them, thats why either she or he was the ones who ate them and the other ones got angry and attacked the other

Jaw locking is common with pairs, one of my first pairs used to jaw lock every morning when I turned the light on.

Consider pulling the spawn and hatching it in a different vessel, anything from gallon jugs to 10 gallon tanks are regularly used. Thia way you can add some anti-fungals and/or anti-bacterials. This is commonly done by most breeders, as the bacteria in the pair's tank will often affect the eggs, while having no affect on the hardier adults.

The fungus you see is most often secondary to the bacteria you don't see. While that tank does look immaculate, there will be unseen bacteria.

I do have to comment on the pics, really nice. I need to do an upgrade from my old 2.1mp. Soon.

Thanks for the complement. Picture taken by Pentax S6 (6 MP) camera.

I have left the pair in the 10g tank. I am planning to leave them there for couple of weeks. If they spawn again then I will let them take care the fry. I am not going to interfere. Hopefully their parental instinct will kick in. If not then I will move them to the main tank and will not bother with breeding them again.

I potentially have another breeding pair in my main tank. I have seen them tanking the corner and contantly cleaning the filter inlet and the fake amazon plant in the corner. They chase away anyone who comes in the corner. So fingures crossed.

Here are the pictures of suspected pair. Let me know what you think.
