Another Dead Fish In The Small Tank...

Found another dead fish today. One of the small 3-lined corys I bought about 1 month ago. So far I've lost 2 in the same batch, and lost my apple snails as well in that tank. I did a big clear out and move a few fishes to the big tank. In the process I move the tray that is holding the wood down in the small tank. When I first set it up, because the wood wasn't soaked, I screwed the wood onto a cheap melamite serving tray, and bury everything under the sand. When I took it out today the screw was rusty and black. Of course I removed it and the wood is fully soaked and will sink. I wondered whether that is the reason why I had my fish and snail loss, or the recent batch of corys weren't that good quality to start with... The thing is my amano shrimps are fine and "thriving", no death, and they are supposed to be the most sensitive of the residents.

All seemed fine so far.
