I have decided......

I am not going to plan on what I am going to stock my new tank with down to the exact deatail.

I have found personally, when ever I go into a lps or lfs I always leave thinking about another fish. There's just to many different fish in the world.

So I say hell with it.

I know I want a couple angels, a few more gouramis, and a tetra school or maybe even 2 rams.

I'm not going tro spend anymore time caculating and reading, and asking questions.
I am gunna go to petco get 2 angels, two or 3 more gouramis, and either a schooling tetra or a ram pair.
But I am not going to decided until The day comes when I can bring home some fish!

This may sound weird, or un organized, but I've been stressing so much about what I can add with my gouramis and angels, its almost lost its fun.

Just thought I'd share. :dunno:

So currently, I can't tell you what I am stocking it with.

I think you and me are in the same boat :S I feel like I am always asking for opinions on stocking on here that lately nobody even replys to my questions :X :*)

I've been feeling overly stressed out just thinking about my stocking options. Like you said everytime you visit your lfs or lps you find another fish you'd like to keep. Same here!! Everytime I think that's the one I end up changing my mind and like now I have a couple fish I wish I hadn't bought months ago.

I think for one of my tanks I have finally settled on an idea and I wish I could go tomorrow and get the fish but I don't have any money  So I'll have to sit and wait a little while longer.

I've kind of gotten to the point where I dont even want to buy fish because I am afraid I am making the wrong choices. It's gotten me sick and I've had many sleepless nights. Today I cleaned the whole house trying to get my mind off fish. It's terrible when something you love so much makes you feel so bad :(

One bit of advice: Neons are the Angels natural food source. Any tetras in that size range are in danger of being a meal.

I agree. I've decided to stuff community tanks, and planted tanks, and especially planted community tanks. I'll just make sure I have a tank with removable occupants and then I'm free to go to a lfs of my choice and say 'Oh, they'd make a nice species tank'. So much better, no worry of compatability issues at all.

I kind of wish I had that problem too, but no. I have too much room = 0 nitrates = bad for plants, but I just can't find any fish species I want to buy, at least suitable for my tanks. :dunno:

How so? What fish do you want to keep in there?....

Go to your lfs, read the little name tags, figure if its compatable, and buy it. All fish look great. even if its not exactly what you wanted.

to be honest i have always just got wat takes my fancy i mean yes i usualy have an rough idea of what i would like but i just go with the flow  obviously i make sure they are compatable an now i like comin on here for advice and stuff but i dont let the sience of fishkeepin an this forum rule my tank wich does not mean i dont pay any attention to them i understand an stik to the science of fishkeepin and i take into account an greatly appreciate advice from this forum

Because I dont have the money to buy tanks when I please :)() I find I spend all my time planning tanks fo the future in my head and researching them all the way down to the cost, how I'll arrange my social life around the water changes etc.

A lot of that research means reading every post I can find on the internet forums, and reading book until my eyes hurt.

:*)

You should see my lists. :p Dozens of fish in both salt and freshwater. If I got all the fish on my list, it'd probably be over $5,000 worth of just the fish alone.

Am I the only one who gets really frustrated when they're planning a tank and the fish they want are incompatible no matter what the circumstances? Or there is no way your fish could fit in the space you have?

It drives me mad. I'd never break the rules mind.

Me.

I love the community tank, but I have a passion Gouramis.
I like a bunch of small schools, but I also like the look of a few large fish.
I have a very open mind, and to me, every fish is wounderful in anyway. Thats my problem. Some people look at a fish and say its ugly, I look at a fish and say its facinatting.

Yeah it does get annoying, especially when planning smaller tanks. A larger tank (like 100+) can support certain fish you couldn't in a smaller one (50-) because of aggression or size. Then there are just the ones because of temperment or water requirements. I'd love to keep all my fish in one tank but they just wouldn't be compatible together.
