Did you buy them like this? Also you won't be able to 100% tell the sex until they pair with another and spawn - when their 'genital bits' appear :)

Might need to know a wee bit more...

Has it only just developed recently? I've seen this on other angels and it can be due to the fish being quite relaxed, however, that looks very pronounced and severe and could be caused by a couple of things. Poor water quality and/or bacteria. Could it be good old fashioned damage? Any signs of aggression?

Sexing is difficult for angels. They only sure-fire way to know is to see them breeding, but, if I were to take a stab, I'd say female!

Could it be stunted from a tank not high enough? I've never even seen mine slightly bent :S

Female was my thought but ain't no expert. It was like it already when got it . Water is fine they are in a 190l. No aggression

Could just be a birth defect and they will choose their own mate once sexually mature. Normally around 7-9 months old. You might have two of the same sex - never know. The best way to get a guaranteed pair is buy six then let them pair up then rehome the non paired up ones.

Seeing as they get on so well I don't really mind if they are the same. Was just a thought not really trying to breed. Just the fin was concerning a bit but as its not getting worse and he can swim as well as the other I think it will be ok.
Thanks

The anal fin and ventral fins look bent also - might just be better as a 'pet' rather than a breeder. Could it be possible his tank before you got him was too small for development? Maybe a diet deficiency? Just throwing ideas out there.

Agreed, if they were like this from the start it could well be genetic.

Pleasure :) marbles are a lovely colour. My female is - favourite colour apart from lace/black angels :)

As a help to the OP, Sophie, how would you normally go about "guessing" the sex of your angels?

I've read a few bits n bobs on it and the best one seems to go something like this;

General body shape - Female: round; Male: angular
Head shape - Female: flat, ski slope shaped; Male: forms a hump
Eye/Nose band - Female: flat, inline with forehead shape; Male: develops a ridge at maturity
Dorsals - Female: held slightly backward, in line with the forehead angle; Male: fully erect, forms almost a 90 degree angel with the head bump
Ventrals - Female: tends to hold ventrals closer to the body; Male: held erect, forming a distinct angle with the body
Lateral line - Female: nose tends to be slightly elevated compared to the tail; Male: nose and tail are fairly horizontal

It's for those reason I originally said it could be female.

Any thoughts?

But like I said was already like it, also I don't think they are fully grown yet, is say their body's are half size of the palm of my hand

Sounds about right fm - just uploading a picture of my male and female now. Funny because I've just noticed his dorsal would bend slightly when relaxed like you said. Puffs back up when I move though - he's very protective of her :p One sec for upload.

According to this it wouldn't be female but male as mine has an almost 90 degree bend. Right?
