Angle Fish Pairs

i really want to get some angle fish in my new 240l but i know that you should get 6 or so then wait till you get a pair and get rid of the others or just hope they all form pairs

in an lfs would you be able to see pairs there so you could just ask for the pair which would save you getting more and taking some back later along the line?

angelfish usually choose pair as teenagers.. if you want a pair.. yes go with 6 angels.. but if you dont want to take any back.. i would just choose two and hope for the best.. theres no way to sex them unless they mate.. i ended up with a pair when i got mine.. unfortunately my female had problems when they bred (this is when i found out she was a female) and she died during the egg laying.. when you choose them be careful to get 2 of about the same size .. so that they dont pick on eachother if they both turn out to be boys

i'm not sure on how large your tank is though... like curiosity said

it depends on the height mate, people say 19" from the top of the substrate to the water line, but i would have 20 inches

Nothing wrong with size mate, it was my mistake - I'm half asleep and didn't see the tank size hidden in plain sight. Thought you were possibly referring to your 60L tank. 240L is more than big enough.

And whilst I've never looked for one, I think you're quite unlikely to spot a pair in the LFS. You can buy a proven breeding pair from someone though, I occasionally see them on Buy/Sell/Swap.

Some shops here sell proven for like 60$. They always look old and worn out to me though. I don't think you can spot a pair when they are young.
I bought three quarter sized angels and two formed a pair, I guess I got lucky. However I didn't know it was best to rehome the 3rd after the pair formed. The pair killed the other :\
