Angels.

hi dose any one know how many Angels i keep ?
i have 480ltr tank with 28 fish in it !

15 blue neon tetra
6 Gouramis
1 red tail shark
1 rusty brown Plec
3 blood spot etera
2 Niger Cichlid
2 Angels (small)

or do you think i am at my tank max

i have fall in love with angels and want to know how many i can have as i think there is a max on how many Angels you can keep in the same tank ?

Its recommended that just 2 mating pair are kept.
Not any 2 angels will pair. Usually the best method to get a pair is to get 6 to 8 young angels, wait for 2 to pair then rehome the rest.
Thats actually what im doing at the moment.
Once the 2 pair they will become aggressive and nippy towards the other angels.

Could I have in my tank 8 female or 8 males ? will that work ?

What he is saying Mark is to get 8, see what 2 pair up, then remove the rest.

Not that you should bread them, anyway, if you can get baby angel fish out of a tank you have done well, I have had a pair of angel fish fish for ages and babies is not something I expect to get from them lol.

I only ever keep two though, once had 4 and that did not go well.

Two is a good number to have anyway

You cant really keep just any two tho. Sometimes you can get lucky, but If the two you have now are not a pair or if they are both males, when they mature they will fight. Which is why we get 6-8 young angels and wait for 2 to pair naturally then rehome the rest.

I have 8 Angels in my tank.
Either keep a pair, or a largish group. In a smaller group, the weakest could well get picked on and even killed. But in a larger group, the aggression will be spread.

I don't tihnk it is possible to breed Angels in a community tank. For one, the parents get very defensive of the eggs, and herd all the other fish into another corner of the tank. And also, if another fish does get near, it will probably eat the eggs or young fry.

If you want to try and breed Angels, it's probably best to do so in a dedicated set up.
