Hi, I have two angels, sex unknown, who are either kissing, grooming, mating ??? I don't know but they are fully locking lips and seem to be kissing but also are niggling each other at the same time. I have never seen this before and am intrigued. Thanks trousersdown

humm, may well have been a fight!

Sounds like pairing behavior. When they do this and stay near each other after the little tussle it's definitly a pair. If they behave that way, and one or the other flees to the opposite end of the tank and hides it's territorial aggression.

If they are pairing they will soon start to clean a vertical surface such as a plant, decoration, or filter intake. Eggs are soon to follow once this starts.

Thanks...

My angels do this when they are getting ready to pair off. It's normal in angels and you should soon see spawning behavior. Males who are fighting tend to nip and each others chins, not lips, so this is normally a mating ritual.
