Hi

I was wonderin can u keep angels with neons and guppys?
I'm etting some new fish at the weekend and was thinking of getting an angel.

Hi Kev

I would think that you proberley be able to but i would still get some advice of a more experienced person.

How big are the neons currently. Neons are a natural food for Angel Fish but I know people have got away with keeping both species. If the Angel is added after the neons and its still of a small size you could get away with it. I guess it all depends on the Angel. Works for some but not others its different for everyone mate.

My neons are adult size, i'm planning on getting the neons at the same time as the angel as a couple of my neons have died.

Plus i'm onlygna get a angel that stay relitively small, so i hope it won't b much of a problem.

no i wouldnt keep neons with angels. As already stated angels predate neons in the wild, so it is their natural prey. however, many people have kept full grown neons with smaller angels successfully, however when the angels grow dont be suprised if a few neons start going' missing'!

i have never kept angels with anything that small, but in my opinion unless you want to treat your angels to a expensive lunch i wouldnt...get a larger tetra like black neons, black phantoms, silver tipped tetra, harlequins, pristella..etc...anything that will nip the fins of the angels

ones that stay small??? they will not stay small!!!! :shout: ...how big is the tank your putting them in? angels require a good height in the tank.

My tank is 28 UK Gallons,

ok tank is ok for angels, but i wouldnt get angels and expect them to stay small....

if you want to add angels, do it at the risk of your neons..as i said before you may be fine if the neons are 'jumbo' size and the angels are introduced at a small size. However, a quick search on here brings up loadsa threads about angels eating neons.

is your tank planted? this could help if you do decide to introduce angels, gives the neons hiding places....

if you see the angel blowing bubbles this is usually a sign of agression, think they do it to confuse their prey :good:

Wow ok, thanks for the advice, i think i'll have a look around the shops and see what they have.

Thnk again for the advice

Would not advise angel's with neon's as i tried and failed, One possible option is cardinal tetra as they grow abit bigger but again you would need full grown with babie angel's......

no worries! :good:

have a look at dwarf cichlids instead of angels if you want? bolivian rams, keyhole cichlids and kribs are all relitively peacefull and really brighten the tank up....

hope it goes well
