so heres the question. Will angelfish eat neons? i was thinking of getting some of each but am wondering how this is going to work. if i cycle the tank then put the school of neons in, wait a while make sure there lots of hiding space then add a pair of angels. is it gonna work or is it a going to be a massacre? any suggestions well worth it.

Some peoples do, others don't. Some people raise them in and abouts small fish, and by doing so most learn they aren't to be eaten as food.

ANgelfish and neons make great tankmates, but don't become distressed if down the road your angelfish become very large and snack on the neons. They live together in the wild, but neons are a natural food source for larger angelfish.

I put 5 neon tetras in the tank with my very peaceful and non-aggressive angel fish. The next morning there were only 4 and of the 4 one had lost it's tail. The Angel was strutting about like a peacock. It is a small tank though, if you have a big tank and plenty of hiding places you should be ok and keep losses minimal or none at all.

Mine are fine, I bought the angels very small so my thinking is that if they grow up with them then wont see them as food.

I have however now removed them from the tank as have more cichlids in there now.

I bought some Neons to put with my Angels a while back and they chased them around for about a day then left them alone. But the Neons ended up dying one by one after that, not by getting eaten though, maybe they're just sensitive fish or maybe it was the store I got them from.

So then I went with some Rummy Nose Tetras. Much prettier fish in my opinion. It was the same thing at first, the Angels tried to get at them for about a day or so then stopped. Now they completely ignore them and everything is still fine. My Angels were about a year and a half then so they had a little size on them. If you get the Angels when they're small then you really won't have a problem, not for a long while at least.

of course i wasnt cursing them or anything. i agree neons are awesome fishes to keep. however they do risk getting eaten by your angels. for now it may be okay. but the max size of your neons are much smaller than your angels. over time, as your angels get big, they may look for other food stuff, in this case your neons
