I wasn't really sure which category this belonged but I will ask it here. At my LFS there have two choices of angelfish besides the type. They have the option of large angelfish and small angelfish which is why I'm wondering if with this list of fish in a 55 gallon if it would be suitable for small or large...

3 angelfish
4 pearl gouramis
1 Brist. plec or 5-7 cories
6-7 Phantom tetras or 6-7 rasboras

Small angelfish will grow into large angelfish, the only difference in them is that the large ones your LFS are selling are older.
Gouramis and angelfish generally dont mix well as they are similar looking and occupy the same area of the tank and small tetras and rasboros my be eaten by adult angelfish.

Iv'e been told several times that angelfish were perfectly fine with my selection of fish in my 55 gallon tank. Uh, I hate conflicting replies.. :(

dont worry angelfish will be fine with gourami's i have angels and gourami's in the same tank and i havnt had a problem with it, but i would go with the small angels cause then u can watch them grow and develope their own personalities

i would go with large because as CFC said they occupy the same area of the tank and if there is a big enough gap in size they probly wont go after each other. afull grown angelfish will probly eat some tetras as they have wuite big mouths.

The small angelfish WILL grow into larger angelfish BUT they will not eat harlequin rasboras or black phantom tetras. The harlequins grow too large and the black phantoms have the wrong shape. Getting the smaller angels, however, will give the harlequins a chance to grow large enough so as not to get eaten first.
The pearl gouramies will be fine. Though it is true that they occupy the same space, a 55 gallon should be plenty of space for 3 angels and 4 pearls. Again, starting with small angels will let both establish themselves while still young. The plec and/or cories are fine with whatever angel you choose. I think you should go with the small ones though just so, as mentioned, you can watch them grow and develop personalities. :)

What do u mean by wrong shape? I didnt think it mattered what shape they were when the other fish is 4 times the size of you.

well its alot easier for a fish to eat a long and slender fish than it is to eat a big round fish like a silver dollar, or phantom tetra....
