Well i have a 40"x18"x12X (LxHxW) tank with the 2 angels a shark fish and 2 female bettas. Usually my angels have the eggs and eat them within a few hours. This time its been about 2 days and some of the eggs seem to be getting darker (is that good?) and the parents seem to be very intrested and protective. They fan the eggs together all the time and guard them very well. I just hope this time i get some fry. I only ever got wrigglers once and thats when i raised them myself, i dident do to good. Because it was so unexpected i have not had a chance to get to my LFS for anti fungal treatments or anything like that. I think i will just let them do the work and i may take a few to raise myself if they get them free swimming.
The male is a platinum and the female is a golden platinum cross i think. I hope i do get some fry. i am quite excited so i thought i would post.

Thank you,

Congrats!!! :good:

it sounds like it took them a couple times to get it right and now they have a bead on things.

That's normal to lose the first batch or two. Let them take care of them and everything should be fine. Watch out for aggresion problems though. :)

Thanks,
yeah they are still young (ish), about 2-3" in length but they have very tall fins. (there pics are on the aquarium picture place). They have been really aggressive to eachother. They seem to do the usual fin flapping and the mouth locking, now the male has become very protective over the eggs (lol i just sat and watched them for a little while) and he only lets her back for a while so she can help him fan them and then he chases her away. Other than that they have been quite good to eachother, they do both look after the eggs and im really wanting some little angelfish fry!!!

my stupid female turned on the male and ate the eggs he did his best to fight her away but shes bigger than him. O well i will just wait 2 weeks and try hand raising again.

if for any reason the angels feel threatened, they will eat the eggs! see it every time mine lay,
wait for the next batch and remove them into a small cycled tank, lots of air stones to fan the eggs. add anti fungal, and wait. the eggs that turn white are dead, so you can remove them, as they die. if all goes well you should have a tank full! you will need to sort a brine shrimp hatchery to feed them with.
