Hi, I was just wondering if angelfish need regular water changes in a tank more often than that of other fish? because i bought some angels a few weeks ago and out of the 5 i first bought only 1 has lived (the first one i got) now i also have 3 others so hopefully won't lose these.

Angels will be less tolerant of poor water conditions than livebearers, danios, or some other catfish. If you would post the results of any & all water tests, tank size & tankmates, type of filtration, tank maintanance routine, as well as what you did to introduce the new fish it would help in pinpointing the problem.

Many times fish in a poorly maintained tank will live, not thrive, because they have slowly become acclimated to those conditions. Putting new fish in the tank means they have to acclimate compairitivly quickly, often resulting in deaths.

What Tolak said would be very useful. :)
I haven't found angels need exceptional water conditions. Not to say I don't keep my tanks in as best a condition as I can because I do! :p
I only lost one recently due to bullying, which is something you may have to watch for assuming they all survivie ok.
I don't know what kind of angels you have but mine are silver so white spot (ich) or velvet really does not show up on them at all. The only way you know is by seeing them flash against something. Or because of other tankmates.
If the conditions in your tank vary greatly from wherever you're getting the fish from, especially ph wise then that will cause early death. A big difference in ph causes a major shock to their system. I always ask, of getting fish from a store I've not used before what their ph is. That way you can better judge how long acclimatising will take.
Also, when transporting them from the store to home, especially if there's a fair journey involved it is very important to ensure they have enough water to comfortably be in and plenty of oxygen in their airtight baggies. And to be certain they aren't being jostled about. Better still is to ensure they're in the dark for the journey to keep stress to a minumum.
Sorry if I've gone unecessarily. I don't mean to sound patronising. :*)
Hugs,
P.

IMHO
the best thing anyone can do for angels is to add peat
to their filter.

I made the mistake of buying only 2 angels

one died a day later due to bullying that I was un aware of

also does anyone else realise angels seem to move around alot when all the nights in the room are of at night and the tank light is off?( theres a small light on my heater and i can see him swimming all around the place playing with my gouramis)
