Angelfish Sick And Dying...

Yes that's good then, as that would of meant the bacteria is rampant in your tank, good luck.

The Melafix doesn't seem to be helping. The Angels are looking sick/sicker. The original fish are all still fine. Whatever it is, it happens fast as most of these fish looked fine yesterday.

You need meds like maracyn one and two, or tetracycline, melafix won't be any good for what they have.

Unfortunately I've not been able to find any maracyn or tetracycline in my area. I purchased some maracyn on ebay yesterday but it'll probably be too late by the time it gets here.

The fish are still alive and they're a little more active but still don't look very good. I think you're right, it's that first disease you mentioned. They're looking like they have cotton growing on them.

It's columnaris sorry, it can kill fast, what meds do you have.

All I have is the melafix, there is nothing else available here. I've called the LFS's and now am trying contact some in the closest city. I'm driving over this evening if they have it.

They'll get their treatment starting tonight. Do you think they have a chance? DH says they're swimming around just fine this afternoon and acting normal. I don't believe it, however they did seem more active after the melafix. I've dosed the tank twice with that so far. Should I keep it up with the binox?

I would, good luck, melafix is no good on columnaris.

Fingers crossed and good luck.

Wilder if you're there, here's an update!

I added the Binox after a 25% water change last night. I'm amazed at how much better they're doing this morning, it's only been about 14 hours.

4 out of the 5 angels are foraging for food and happily swimming about the tank. The fifth is showing vast improvement hourly! The cottony stuff on their bodys is disapearing more and more every time I look.

I can't believe this worked so quickly. I do believe the melifix helped somewhat, perhaps from slowing down the progression of the disease until I got what they needed. I'm still sad that I lost 2 before I came here for your much needed advise.

I can do another treatment in 4 days after another 25% water change but it doesn't say I have to. If they look well, do you think I should do a second treatment in 4 days?

Unfortunately this product kills the good bacteria along with the bad stuff so my tank will cycle again. I'll probably be back for more info on how to cycle with fish. I'll also be getting a second, smaller tank for future problems.

Wilder I just have to say: Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!

Yes i would do another dose, as columnaris can look like it going them come back as quickly, good luck.
Glad they look better.
