ive not seen any topics on this so ill post one,

i would like a shoal of angels for my rio 180, how many angelfish should i put together, would 2 males kill each other?

please reply :)

If it's going into that 15 gallon then you shouldn't have any because it's much too small for angels. If not, what size tank is it?

into the 50gal, as you may have noticed, there is already 1 angel in there, she seems lonely, so i was thinking about letting them shoal, or would it become a bloodbath?

Depends, the angel might have a problem with other angels suddenly coming into its territory. What kinda decor do you have? Tall, thick? or wide open? What might help is to rearrange the tank so its territories are dismembered prior to adding the new angel(s),

my female has no terittory, she is infac *EXTREMELY* peaceful, she has no care for fin nipping and never chases any other fish, plus, my 50gal was set up on sunday (3rd dec.) so it is just under a week old, not even the RTBS has a proper teritory yet :)

Ok then, I think your best bet, would be to add 2 angels, problem is, if two of those pair, and leave an odd man out. I think adding 3 would be over doing it.. given your current stocking. So, I'd try 2, and aim for 2 females if at all possible, same relative size as your current one. Keep a very close eye on them for awhile, and make sure that everything seems to be ok.

Huh, didn't notice the 50 gallon there. Anyway, it won't be much of a problem adding more because you'll be adding too many for her to target even if she did get a little grumpy. The thing is Angels are not shoaling fish, they're pairing fish. You can start with a few more when they're small but in the end it would come down to a couple of pairs, or a couple of females as nix said.

so 2 more females (3 females in the tank?)

Thats what I'd aim for, unless you want a pair, but then you'd have to worry about the well being of the other fish, which could work, but that depends on the pair.

You just set the tank up on sunday? I'm guessing you used established media/substrate from one of your other tanks... I would hope so anyway. you could get away with adding 2 or 3 more in there, and just watch out for pairing. They might all get along, they might not. I understand angels are difficult like that.

the new angel (i think its a Silver Zebra Angel) :hey:

the older angel doesnt mind it, just nips it a bit (probably to show it who is boss) ;)

im hoping this aggression will settle down over time

Looks like a zebra to me. Nice fish! :) A little territorial sparring is probably to be expected. Keep a divider handy just in case it gets out of hand.
