Angelfish Nipping

Hi all. I have 6 koi angelfish and now they've seemed to have gotten used to my tank they've started a few started nipping the other angelfish. It's the oddest thing. The smaller angelfish seem to be bulling the larger ones. I thought having 6 would keep their aggresiveness down. Sometimes the other angelfish will try to band together to nip at the first nipper. I hope they figure out their pecking order or it'll just never stop.

When I had 6 angelfish in a 55g tank, 2 of them killed the others, and other fish.

There will always be a certain amount of fighting, and it any pair off it will get worse. If you describe your tank and what you want from your fish either keeping/breeding then I'm sure someone with more experience will post their thoughts.

If it is the 30 gallon in your profile, some nipping is to be expected. You have 5 gallons per fish, which is fine for potential breeders, and getting a pair. You will almost certainly get a pair out of 6 angels, depending on their aggression you may need to get a separate tank for the pair. Getting a divider now is a good idea.
