Hey,
I have two angelfish in a 30 gal, and they are doing great. I had someone say they prefer slowmoving water and fast moving water is stressful to them. There is a mild current in my tank due to semi-heavy aeration. Anyone else heard if this is detrimental?

I was also wondering what some good angel tankmates would be( I have a cory and gourami with them now)? Thanks!

Angels are not fond of serious currents, the type from oversize canisters or powerheads. All my breeding tanks are heavily aerated, box & sponge filters powered by an oversize air pump. They get by fine with the current this produces. I'll keep it a little lower when they are smaller, once they hit a little bigger than pea body size I open it up. I have adults in a 55 with a 1,000 lph pump on the bottom, and a pair of canisters, Eheim 2222 & 2224. This current doesn't bother them.

Corys like to be in groups, 5 or better. Add a few more corys to make the single fish happy. I've always kept corys & plecs with angels, livebearers work as well. Anything with long fins may be seen as another angel, and get treated aggressively. Avoid nippy fish such as tiger barbs.

Watch for any aggression between the two angels as they mature, this has been known to happen.

Hey thanks for answering my question, I don't have any powerheads so I guess they should be fine. About the corys, do you know if they have to be the same species to school or is it possible to mix and match species?

while corys will mix with any other cory, the prefer their own type

btw heres a link to a page with tolaks and my input as to fine tankmates for an angel

nb - many people say no to discus and angel, I've personally never had problems (probably lack of wanting to risk an expensive fish)
