Hey,
I have a well established pair of angelfish, who have laid eggs quite a few times before.
However, the first time they desided to spawn, I chose to meth blue the eggs in a separate 7 uk gallon tank, with plenty of aeration and an indian fern but no filter. I managed to achieve little 'wigglers', but from that stage there seemed to be nothing, and not all the eggs hatched either.. only a few out of hundreds.
3 weeks ago, they spawned on the side of an internal filter inside my community tank. So i decided to just leave them there, and either one of many culprits soon feasted on them when the lights went out!
Today, they have spawned once again, ontop of another filter! As usual, they are cleaning them, getting rid of the rotting ones, and guarding off any threatening predators. It's truely amazing to watch pickle [the golden female angel] carefully laying eggs and cleaning them, while rasta [the black male angel] ever so softly fertilises them in lines as he brushes over the top of the eggs.
I deffinatly recommend, to ANYONE with a tank big enough, get a pair of angels! It's a beautiful display, and mine never seem to get too violent with their housemates. I think this kind of behaviour from our fish can teach us so much about just how intelligent, and how amazing they really are!
Just thought i'd share that with u, oh, and if anyone has any 'experienced' ideas on how I may be able to achieve angelfish fry, please let me know!!
Cheers.
