For the past 2 days when my Angelfish eats he either:

1) Puts the food in his mouth and spits it straight back out

2) Puts the food in his mouth, swallows and then spends the next 10 minutes trying to "cough" it up (usually it stays down but i can see it coming up and down his throat)

3) Darts as if to eat but then just doesn't open his mouth.

My female Angelfish recently laid eggs and I wondered why he wouldn't fertalize them but I guess it was because he's sick

In every other way he seems fine, swimming as normal etc. He has had white stringy poo but this could be just down to him not eating.

Ammonia 0, Nitrite 0, pH 7.4.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance for answers :good:

I would place my bets on this being an internal parasite issue. Not eating correctly and white stringgy poo are both symptoms of this, and both together won't cover anyting else that I am aware of -_-

Treating will be difficult since he isn't eating. You need a Metrodanizole based med, but I don't know of any that are available in the UK, hence my similar thread on this page :good: If he was still eating, I'd advise medicated food, but this obviously isn't an option if he isn't eating correctly. You need a bath type med, based on the above active ingrediant :good:

Hope this was of some use to you

Just to add, a fluendazole based med would also work. You could try Wormer Plus by Kisuri, and imported by Plymouth discus, but IME it is useless :sly: I'd keep an eye on my other thread, and see what replys are raised there :good:

All the best

Yeh I used wormer plus, didn't find it very useful either.

To be honest after all the bulls**t I've had with fish lately i've quit treating with ineffective uk medicines. Really just wanted to confirm it's not something caught in his throat or anything like that. If an internal parasite unfortunately the battle is up to him!

Thanks for the advice!

Think rabbut tryed wormer plus and he says it not very good.
Only option left is a vet.
