Hi, this is my first post to this site.

I have a 180ltr (40gal) bowfront juwel tank with juwel filter

I have two questions that i would like your guys help with regarding angelfish

1. Can you just keep one angel instead of a pair or more, as im thinking 40gal may be too small for two angels and other fish

2. i was looking to finally have this combination in my tank.......
8 zebra danios, 4 cory cats, 1 angelfish, and 3 dwarf gouramis (1 male 2 female), and pssibly some otos, space depending
my actual question is does this sound viable??

thanks in advance for all your help :)

Yes its best to have just one or four upwards to stop aggression.

How tall is the tank, as it really needs to be 18" tall for full grown adult angels (of certain varieties) otherwise stocking looks fine to me.

sounds fine to me . also i 2nd what minxy says either just a single 1 ore a group of 4 or more.

its 20 inches tall from top of substrate to the top of the water level

Then your stocking is absolutely fine.

Dont take this the wrong way, but being new to the forum I must advise to have the tank completley cycled prior to adding any fish, you may know this and have 20 years experience or you maybe completely new to fishkeeping so I wanted to mention it, if you dont know about cycling, take a look thru the pinned topics in the new to the hobby section of the forum, or follow the links in my signature :good:

yea i've read all aspects of the cycling process, both fishless and fish cycling
but this is my first freshwater tropical tank.

I've had goldfish for about 7 years and when i first got those nobody told me anything of the sort about any cycles

even now i remember it was a case of 'fill it with water and wait 2 days then put your goldfish in.

how things change eh??

Yep, I suspect alot of us have been there and learned the hard way.

Thats the important thing though - most of us are willing to learn :)
