Hi all,
Something strange has been happening with one of my angels recently,
somehow he has lost his 'aim' when taking food from the surface and has to make several swipes at it before he can manage to take a bite.
Has anyone ever seen this before, Im wondering specifically if its permanent.
No emergency I know but the poor guy ends up skulking off after all the food has been snapped up, even the neons are swiping it from under his nose!
Anyone?

Ken

Well, if this angel happens to be Cupid, this would be tragedy! j/k

So,to business. If it cant get to eat because the others eat all of it before it does, why not seperate this angel temporarily and see what happens. Might be an eye problem.... I'll check back later.

P.T.

hey!

although my angels are HUGE pigs....i have to say that their aim for things right in front of them is not that good.... im not sure that what you're seeing is abnormal

How old is your fish? My older angels are much slower at getting food now ( or 7 yr olds). If he is still eating well there is nothing to worry about it.

Ken, do you have any problems with your angels and neons? I started my tank with 10 neons and have always wanted angelfish but keep getting told that they eat neons??????

I have since added gouramis with no problem but now it's too late for angels....I would like to know though for future reference.

Thanks

I'm not Ken, but I do have a friend who has tried several times at keeping neons and angels together, each time was a complete disaster for the neons. She told me that she found out that neons were an angel's natural prey in the wild.

By the way, She had a 75 gallon with three full grown angels.

Thanks for the replies, I am not worried about him getting enough food, I dont think an angel would be the first fish to starve in a tank! I was just wondering had anyone seen it before and is it likely to be permanent.

They seem to be doing ok with the neons, although they do seem to dissaprove of the neons hyperactive antics sometimes. Thay have shared a tank with neons since they were 1" long, they are well fed and have plenty of 'leg' room so I dont see them as a threat at the moment. I have never once witnessed a true attack from the angels, you know they mean business when they lean sideways with the pec fins spread wide and lunge!!
