Hello all, I have been keeping tropical fish for approximately 2 year, and have never had any major problems.
My 2 most prized fish, a pair of Angels, both suddenly died in a matter of days of each other (about 5 days).
The first one I noticed, was upside down, (obviously not a good sign), but showed no sign of any fungus, or parasites. The fish was in perfect shape and condition.
The second one was in also great shape (the female). after her mate died, she was still strong, and her usual self.
but last night she started behaving the same as her dead partner, and this morning, also dead.

Im am very concerned for my other non Angel fish, that they will also sercum to this mystery illness.

I have checked all the water parameters, and they are all perfect.
I have loaches, and neons, and some pop bellied mollies, which are all about the same age, of about 2 years old (from purchase).

I thought that the First Angel may have just died from old age, but the second one so near the same time, makes me think that there is something more sinister.

This is a bit hard as they can swim upside down when they are dying, you say some fish have pot bellies, what do you feed the fish, what does it look like when they go to the toilet, any inflamed or enlarge anus, can they maintain there balance in the water , any scales sticking out like a pinecone.

i share your sorrow .. i also lost an angel about 2 months ago, and also for no apparent reason, we actually lost 5 due to a particularly evil paradise fish (we were dupped into buying it.. being told that it was a "perfect community tank fish"
anyway, once we got rid of said evil fish, i thought our last remaining angel would be fine, but died a few days later.. again water all fine.. no marks on his little body either. i have tried to find out why he died, but haven't had a definitive answer, from here, the internet, or even the lfs, it's a mystery. :rip:

thanks for your reply's. You may have answered my question right there. I have an evil bottom feeder, I had seen him latched onto the female the day before she died, maybe he is the culprit?
