I bought my angel when it was a little bigger than a £2 coin, it was in a tank of mixed baby freshwater angels and i just chose the one i thought looked "prettiest" I have never been sure what kind he is can anyone help?

(also technically i don't know that it is a "he" as i know you can only tell the sex when they are mating, it has just always been referred to as "he")

Hes about 18 months old now and the talking point of my tank. Has a very placid personality and lives peacefully with all my other fish ( including a shoal of neon tetras) but has never been any bother!

Without knowing alot about angels, I would guess scalare, these are by far the most common in shops. You're wallet (or purse) would know if you had bought an altum or leopoldi.

With the nice gold crown I would tend to say gold marble pearlscale. Koi are gold marble blushers, the translucent gill plate gives them the blush. At that angle it's tough to make a call on the gill plate, and sometimes the blush will fade as koi mature.

Nice angel, temperment is something many angel breeders ignore in an effort to get decent looking fish.
