Hi

I have a angel fish and hes been off his food a few days hanging in the corner the last week or so hes been shakeing his head. I tested the water and stats are fine amonia etc.

Ive added some sterazin today but hes been hanging at the surface for the last few hours with one gill working. The only thing I can see on him is 2 little black specs along his head and a white salt grain fleck in his back fin and above his eye.

Is it flukes or whitespot?

Im thinking whitespot now yet ive dosed sterazin thinking the other!

Size of tank in gallons or litries.
How many fish and which type.
Water stats in ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and ph.

If the spots are the size of a grain of salt yes it whitespot.
Is he rubbing himself on things in the tank.
Once whitespot affects the gills fish seem to rarely make it.

Are his gills inflamed with excess mucas on them.

125L

2 angels 2 gourami

Ammonia 0
Nitrite 0
Nitrate 10

Its about salt grain size they come up about the last 4 days no other fish have got it and no mucus or red gills! no rubbing never has just violently shakes his head sometimes and pushes water through his gills!

You need to treat for whitespot then.
Increase aeration in the tank.
Remove black carbon from then filter if you use it.
Raise temp to 30.

Not sure if that waterlife meds works on whitespot.
I would add some black carbon and do a water change to remove it.

Signs of skin, gill, and eye flukes are.

Opaque body with excess slime.
Red inflamed gills, or pale gills with excess mucas.
Flicking and rubbing.
Laboured breathing, or gasping at the top of the tank.
Swimming oddly like in a jerky movement.
Sores on the body of the fish.
Erratic swimming.
Weightloss sometimes.
Spitting food out of there mouths.
Eye flukes you will see white flecks on there eyes.
