Well I already got hooked on bettas well and truly. And now stage 2 of the infatuation begins..... I rescued a sick betta today. He has the beginning of fin rot, and when I told the LFS, they said their last batch had all had problems and they had given up on trateing them. He was such an inquisitive liitle guy, following my finger.... I had to give him a chance. He is a peachy kinda colour and seems to maybe have a bit of a turquoise wash... will have to wait and see. And he has turquoise eyes! So cute. I have him in my Q tank with the promise of rehoming him when he is better.... I have a feeling he ain't going anywhere though.... :p I've medicated the tank and he is having fun exploring, wish him luck! :)

Here he is!

He has been flaring madly at his reflection and the lamp I have had on :p So feisty!

Awwww he's lovely Tibby....will be a little belter when his fins have healed. Good luck with him :good:

His anal fin is so thin and patchy, poor thing. But he is definitely a little fighter! I had to save him... his eyes are the most amazing colour too! Unfortunately I have camera problems and cannot get any close ups till it has been repaired :S and cannot get a pic of those eyes! I might have to call him Frank after Ol Blue eyes himself... lol

Lol....that made me laugh. My step daughter is sitting here with her boyfriend right now and he's called Frank

tibby25731, congratulations to you and that poor, if beautiful, little fish.
I won't comment on an LFS that 'doesn't bother' treating sick fish, as it'd mirror what everybody's already thinking...
Can't wait to see pics with accurate colours of his eyes.
That's such a cool statuette/cave - I'll bet little betta loves that, and will be better in no time.
Tell the little guy I do send him luck, but I think he's already topped up with that, having such a wonderful home and care.
Because once you've put your heart into saving him, a piece would leave with him, if you let him go...

Thanks everyone! I already know that this little one won't be going anywhere... not sure where he WILL go but I will find space! Besides which, hubby seems quite taken by him... and refuses to let him be called Frank...,. he has renamed him Blackbeard! When he flares, his beard is very dark brown :p And he flares a lot! Never seen anything like it, none of my others have been that feisty :)

Blackbeard is still good, flaring madly at everything! He certainly isn't acting sick, I hope the fin rot heals soon and his anal fin sorts itself out, it looks really worn. Is this down to fin rot, or just poor health?

hes very pretty! Ive never done a rescue but I would like once I get all my fish stuff up and out of storage in the basement and know exactly what I have and what I need.

he does not look like the has the horrific black fin rot yet, I would be super strict about his water changes....for at least a month. then you should see some dramatic improvement. it honestly looks like he was laying in a poo filled cup that went unchanged for weeks and the poo started to rot the lower fins.

well the red tinge to the edges of his tail has gone already! I am very optimistic :) And he is looking better already. I could see a very faint turquoise wash over his scales, this is showing a little more and I can also see some turquiose showing on his fins and tail. If this comes out more he is gonna be simply the prettiest betta in the world :) and his tail will match his eyes :p I can't wait to see how he looks in a few weeks!
