Welcome to TFF mic8310!
If you've had tank types other than tropical, there may still be some overlap from things you've learned from that but regardless, there's lots of information all over this set of forums. Most new members, especially beginners to the hobby, seem to find good core leaning by interacting in the "New to the Hobby" forum. There are pinned topics at the top of that forum. I recommend "Beginner's Resource Center" where you can look for articles by Miss Wiggle and Alien Anna about the Nitrogen Cycle. Then there is an article by rdd1952 which is our working article for getting started actually performing a "Fishless Cycle." The method in there called Add and Wait is the one most of us have used.
The earlier in your start-up process that you stop off here for reading and learning, the more likely you'll be to discover either things you were about to do wrong, or things for which you can at least gain a deeper understanding while doing. There are tons of experienced fishkeepers roaming around this forum and a good sampling of them will stop off and comment on beginner's questions, saving the beginners a lot of wasted time and misunderstanings I think. Its also just fun.
Hope you have a good experience and find some answers you need!
