Hey,

I've had to albino ancistrus for about 2 months now. I was just wondering how long it takes them to grow to their full size which is 5 inches i belive? Their about an inch now and don't appear to have grown since I've had them.

Bristlenose plecs, like most (if not all?) do grow fairly quikly, id be surprised if he/she wasnt fully grown within a year max :)

their 'bristles' only develop as they mature. with males having much larger bristles than the females.
i'd say yours was just an immature bristlenose.

I see. Well they have absoloutely no bristles at the moment. When are they likey to get them? The guy in the shop said they were albino corys which is completely wrong.

 definately not albino corys!!!
can take a little while for them to develop, if their only an inch long, that doesn't make them very old, probably only 4-5 months depending on how they've been kept. (don't quote me on this, as i've never had them from babies!)
as with all things some individuals take a little longer than others to mature!

i certainly wouldn't worry about them. they'll grow when their good and ready.

Bare in mind its the males who develop the bristles, if you had females they'll never appear ;) You have BN plecs, have faith.

lol ok well ones like double the size of the other one so wait and see as you said. I might get a male to go with them if their both females. Would they still breed if it wasn't a golden one?

I may be completely wrong here, but that fish looks to me more like an albino common pleco  What were they labled as in the shop?

IME bristlenoses are fairly slow growing, taking upto arround 2 years to reach full grown size, but as an above poster said, they are all individual so tings like that will vary a lot.

Nice peackoc (spelling) goby BTW :good:

All the best

May be an idea to get pics of him posted in the plecos sub forum in the catfish section, to get members there to properly ID him for you. I am by no means a pleco expert..

All the best

i agree, again not a plec expert but he doesn't look like a BN to me....
