So it's been about a week and a half or maybe 2 weeks since I got my boy from the coldwater tank full of rosy barbs.
This was him when I first got him

He's such a laid back boy. He loves the anubias. I have only ever seen him flare up once and thats because one of the cories was sitting on the leaf!
I noticed earlier today he was hiding under his plant for ages and I was trying to figure out what was wrong with him-it turned out I had forgot to put the kettle away and it was sitting next to the tank-and it's chrome. He must have caught a glimpse of his reflection! Bless him he was hiding! I have never had a male as laid back as he is!
He gets on great with all the other fish and is a joy to have, I am so glad I rescued him :)

Awww...how sweet, he certainly landed on his 'fins' with you.

I rescued a couple of goldfish last summer from a neighbour, four beady little eyes staring out from a golfishbowl of pea soup, the kids just lost interest in them ! They're going into a friends garden pond in the spring, then I can have my 2 footer back for more tropicals. :yahoo:

The fish are going in the pond...not the kids.

Thanks everyone. Yeah he seems a lot happier now. What a shame though he saw his reflection and was hiding for ages and I didn't even realise
I said in the other thread I would love to get a female for him - my friend has some stunning white and red ones but I don't have anywhere to put her apart from in the main tank and I don't know how he would react but I think he would get bullied by her. I don't want to turn him aggressive by adding her. There are mixed views about it online but it's something I don't have any experience in so will just leave it for the time being I think.

don't mix them both in the same tank, if theres no other fish you could look into dividing it

Nah i'm not dividing the tank it's just one I have with platies, cories, danios and tetras :)

he certianly is looking lovely. He's lucky to have found a good home  .

Thankyou. He is such a character! So funny watching him swim through the bubbles over and over again!
