I have had it explained to me and read about it on this forum,

But just so that im clear, to keep the levels at the minimum do i keep changing a couple of buckets of water every other day?

Or do you leave it to peak then change water? :/

Want to keep the water at its best especially seen as i have baby fish in here!

how big is your tank?? what fish do you have in there?
Generally you would do a 30% water change to drop the levels, then test your levels the next day if levels are still to high... go for a 40% water change.Try to feed them less in the progress.

Is the tank cycled? What is your ammonia?

A cycled tank should be a 0 at all times, even if you never do waterchanges, otherwise you have way too little filtration, or way too many fish.

If it's not cycled then you'll want to do water changes as large and as often as it takes to keep it at an acceptable level for cycling, preferably under .5.
