Hi,
Have come up against a problem this morning..Have tested my tap water for Phd etc but never for ammonia...Now did so this morning and it shows.between 0.25 and 0.35 of ammonia...this worries me as everytime i do a water change i will be adding a dangerous level of ammonia.. So ..I goggled this and saw a post that said ..If your water supplier uses chloramines in the water supply this can show up as ammonia.....I have API Tap Water Conditioner which using a different dose is suppose to detoxify this...tried it and it still shows Ammonia.. I then used Prime in a test and after mixing it into the test water tested it and No ammonia was showing Zero reading.. which is what i wanted.. So when i now do water changes including the big one at the end of the cycle ..will i be o.k. to use Prime...This states it removes Chlorine,Chloramine and Ammonia, ..If i use this instead of API Tap water Conditioner will it do any harm to the good Bacteria...Regards Zac

Yes you can use prime and no it won't do any harm. In fact, Prime is one of the better water conditioners on the market. Technicailly it dosen't remove ammonia, it converts it to ammonium with is relatively harmless to your fishy friends.

In other words, yup, you are fine.
