well, a few minutes ago I was looking at my 20g long and noticed my asc was oddly darker than normal and was hovering on the front of the glass and than laying back down, then getting up and hovering again..here's some pics.. ( I have my Suckermouth, emerald catfish, black spotted barb, and the american shark catfish in the tank)

Laying down (normal, but this is the best one i could get that had light, wasn't blury and shows the best of how dark he is)

I said I have 3 other fish in the tank, I know the tank is to small when he gets bigger and i don't have stats because I ran out of tests and getting some possibly today. And I know about the fish i have..thanks...

I would preform a water change on the tank, can you issolate him.

I did a water change on the tank 2 days ago and no i can't at the moment... that not leaving much i can do....just wondering is acually can be helped

If you could of issolated i would go in with a bacterial med, it's up to you if you wan't to medicate in the main tank.

well, I have no meds at the momet, another reason i'm going to the petstore.. so.. thats not an option either...

if you know about the fish you have then why do you have this BRACKISH fish in freshwater. whats hapening is the cat is probably coming to the age at which he NEEDS salt in the water to survive, they are also a shoaling fish so apriciate a few other cats around.

I suggest you either get him a tank of his own with intent to go brackish and house him properly or take him back to a fish shop.

To be honest then there is nothing to be done for now.

I've known that he will need brackish water when we gets older. I know about the is way before I buy them.

then you also would of known that the age lfs sell them at is when they start to need salt, lots of stress and no salt = deaths.

It's a shame he's a cute little thing, bless him.

right.......and since then it has grown and age as gone on, therefore meaning the need to move it to brackish water.

what ever size you bought it at you can put them in weak brackish conditions straight away which will help there health and growth rates.

besides the fact that you haven't supplied your cat with the correct conditions you can either get your butt into gear and sort it out with a tank in the correct conditions AND be able to house it properly in atleast a 80g when it's older, if you can't do both of these then you might aswell take it back to a shop whilst it's still alive.

if you do neither of these i hope it dies soon to put it out of it's misery.

Next time you buy a fish; research it, take note and follow the information you have found.....don't ignore it
