how do i get the little sword babies off the mother plant? i just got this plant and the sword part with little plants on it has started to grow roots, how would i go about getting this off?

EDIT: sry sword babies sounded like not what i anted it to

Once the plantlets are a few inches tall and have some roots, just cut the stem off the mother plant, seperate each plant and plant in the substrate, easy as that really! BTW swords are root feeders so if you've not already then it would probably help to add some root tabs to the substrate under each to give them food.

I've raised and given away dozens of sprouts. I just cut them off and replant. They grow fast. Don't cut them off until they have a few roots hanging down. I usually wait until the stem starts to bend down to the gravel........that's how it happens in the wild, I think. The stem can't handle the weight, plant drops to ground, grows

well how do i cut it? cut the sword part is self? or just twist the sprout off leaving the other little ones intact on the stem?

Either/or, each way works. Personally I would cut the whole stem off just above where it attaches to the mother plant and then cut this into smaller pieces so there is a little bit either side of each plantlet, twisting off may damage the new roots, etc.
