Hi just need some quick advice. I have a large and I mean large Amazon Sword in my tank not sure what variety it is but its roughly 18 inches tall and about 3 foot wide.

Recently it started sending up a flower stalk which in its self is about 3 foot long out of the water and I have seen the start of an other this week.

I just want to know is it safe to cut these off the plant as although the flowers are nice it means keeping the hood open and the lights are distracting and its letting some noise out as well.

I dont want to kill the plant off because its a really nice looking plant and a real feature for the tank, also if it died it would be one massive ammonia spike!

Thanks Wills

I had two from one of my Swords and I thought they were runners so I peeled them off at the root and put them in the substrate and they died but the Sword is fine.
