Same as I put on your other thread! You obviously dont wanna listen to anything anyone says, and obviously know what you are doing!

and doesn't the bactriea need to be in the water not the filter?

no

the water holds very very minuscule amounts of bacteria, its almost all in the filter. using pre seeded media in your filter is the ONLY way to avoid having to cycle.

and you should still do the add ammonia and wait and test method, for at least 1 day, to make sure it is totally cycled.

mite do that them hmmm i have a elite stingray 10 in my goldfish tank just wondering if i cud put tht ina filter the stingray bin running for like a year or 2

i done a fish in cycle with mature media and tank water (had 100 litres so 50% of my tank was mature tank water)
had no losses or any problems and my tank was cyled just over a week

"Dirty" Second hand media is exactly what you need for a quick cycle dimwit!
The "dirt" you think you are seeing is the bacteria you need. New filter media will have zero bacteria on it, which means you will have to do the add and wait method which takes 1 MONTH approx.

If you can fill up the filter completely with second hand, used "dirty" media, you won't need to cycle because the filter media is already full of bacteria. It will already be cycled. So if your fish store is willing to give you used media, then for gods sake take it and use it. You will save yourself time .

And NO you cannot add fish halfway through a cycle. Why would you even want to do that? If you do you will expose them to nitrites, which are pretty much almost as bad as ammonia. You will cause them a lot of stress and they will very likely become diseased , weakened or die outright. That really would be a horrible and selfish thing to do just because you can't be bothered to wait a few weeks.

I'm not sure if anyone else has noticed this, but you didn't mention a heater...
Yes he did
ok so heres what im going to set up with im going to buy a 70liters i put the gravel in the live/silk plants all the decos and i get the heater and filter running fill the tank up then i do the fishless cycleing witht eh add and wait method with ammonia until it goes down to 0 in 10-12hours so its cycle i then add 6panda corys and 7-8female bettas and im set? also any other equipment i need or stuff i need to know :shifty: :hyper:

could i put a fish in half way through the cycle? say ive been added 5ppm ammonia for 4weeks then cud i add half way through
