Am I Ready For Fish?

my tank is cycled otherwise i would have ammonia, i took ammonia tests while i had my brackish moray all 0,nitrates fine

Actually you won't have ammonia because there are no fish in your tank, and therefore there is not waste to break down. You don't have ammonia in your tap water do you.

ya i had no ammonia when i had fish! i had a fish in there(brackish moray) now i have a new home for him so there wasnt amonia when i had fish in there!!

fish create ammonia --- bacteria consumes ammonia and creates nitrIte --- bacteria consumes nitrIte and creates nitrAte --- water changes remove nitrAte. If you take the fish out of the tank before the cycle has completed (about 4-6 weeks with fish, in my experience) you take out the source of ammonia, so the bacteria that's been building up dies off.

This would definately account for you have no ammonia, [possibly] no nitrIte, and some nitrAte, because the only way to get the nitrAte out of the tank is to do a water change. Unfortunately, it's very likely that your tank is not cycled and that as soon as you put fish in it, the cycle will begin again, which would be very bad for your puffers.

the fish has only been out of the tank for a day, the tank is cycled, nitrates arent high, i went to petsmart and they said 10ppm was fine, they said thats pretty good, will my good bacteria live until tommarow?

They only live for about 24 hours without food from what i understand. Anything more and they die off in droves. Immediately put fish food in there so it decomposes and makes some ammonia!

thank!!! as soon as you said that i flew back in my wheely chair almost flipping over and put some fish flakes and bottom dweller food, can shrimp make amonia?can little ghost shrimp make amonia?????lights on or off?

ok ok i put some ammonia in the tank, dorecy said put some ammonia in there and check then do a huge whater change
