Am I Overstocked?

Hello Everyone,

Im new on hear and i hope someone can help me.

Im concerned that i may be overstocked as i have recently added some more fish to my 60 gallon tank and it has now become abit merky and after testing it and doing a couple of 25% water changes i can't seem to get rid of all the nitirite.

My latest readings as of tonight are...

Ammonia 0
Nitrite 0.1
Nitrate 0
PH 7.5

My current stocking level is as follows.

1 Adult Angel
4 Gourami's
1 Ruby Shark
3 Swordtails
8 Booseman Rainbow
5 Corydoras
8 Zebra Danios
10 Head & Tail Light Tetra

The Head & tail Lights are the latest addition, been in about a week. They seem to be doing well but im concerned im over loading my tank.

Im Running a Fluval 305 external filter and the tanks heavily planted with live plants.

Do i need to be worried?

Should i just carry on with regular water changes and syphoning until i get it down again? Or do i need to lose some fish?

According to the community creater on ThinkFish.co.uk im well understocked.

Please help.

Very overstocked.
The shark needs a 40 gallons tank.
Angel fish shouldn't be kept in anything less than a 20 gallon.

I would rehome the shark and angel fish, then you are still overstocked. for a 12 gallon.

I would do a water change and increase aeration.
Post this thread in new to the hobby.

The tanks 60 Gallons, not 12.

Sorry thought it was 60 litre.

The stocking fine then.

Do you have live plants and what your tap nitrate reading.
Do you over feed the fish.
How often do you maintain the tank.
How long has the tank been set up.

Few... had me worried there!

Yes its heavily planted with a variety of live plants, Vallis, Crypts etc.

Over feeding is possible i feed twice a day with a variety of foods to cater for the different fish.

Do a 25% water change twice a week and siphon the sand etc.

Tanks been set up two & a half months.

Its sound like then your tanks gone into a little mini cycle with adding new fish.
Just keep up with water changes and increase aeration.
Mini cycles don't take long.
