aww dusky i'm sure you will get there eventually. as daz said some of them need practice before they get it right. i still think it would be worth moving the spawning tanks somewhere quieter though, after all it can't hurt and might help. i know daz's have managed it in the shop, but different bettas have different temperaments.

if you could find someting to cover the top then you could cut a bigger hole in the top so that you don't need to move the drawers. But maybe the whole idea of it was to pull the drawer out if you did a water change you could get some water out through a hole in the top and then pull the drawer out to do the rest, then it won't splashas you'll have less water in there.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding your idea, but I really don't see the point, there only seems to be two drawers and they're on the same level, so why have them in the sliding mechanisms? You could just put both drawers on a surface and avoid the whole sliding problem.

yup defo worth the try, mine is possible a mixture of "ABOUT BLASTED TIME" since ive had 3 months of about 9 failed spawns, anyway those draws would be ideal for spawning in, i would if it was me but only for spawning though as i still wouldnt like to be an adult betta in one but then if spawning its not like your gunna really be bothered with the decor

You could rig up a filter system like in some lfs, they filter walls of tanks with one system. I am not sure how much room it might take up but I could be an option if you wanted to filter the water. Board under the drawers would help with the worrying about dropping the drawer when open. The only shame is the plastic is not transparent. Half the fun is watching whats going on.Please let us know how it works out.

The plastic is a bit more see through than it looks. The idea with these is purely utilitarian, they aren't ever going to be a way of displaying fish. This is temporary accommodation for any bettas I end up with while the silicone on my dividers is curing (will take ages because i have to glue rocks in rows). I want to test the idea because the whole thing is just screaming 'fry raisers'. You could stack these, three or four high possibly, and still get at all the fish by pulling the drawers out. I really, REALLY want to spawn Password, but I know i could end up with more than 200 fry - it's not likely but I'm still not going to do it if I can't be prepared for that eventuality.

So far it seems to be working anyway. If not stacked I still think I could grow lowlight tolerant plants in these - I'll wait and see.

I got 12 bettas and a couple of mine are in split tanks. I lost a couple of old bettas recently and they were in plastic containers. The water keeps warmer as the lid fits tight and if you drill holes in the top they are fine. Also they are so cheap....

It's the stacking that gets me - all other stackables require the boxes to be lifted off to feed the bettas in the lower ones.
I'm still thinking about this and ways to improve it...

i like the idea of this.... but isn't it much more practical to go buy a ~10gal glass tank and set up everything permanently for ~$30? Then you can actually see the fish clearly and filter things properly.

just seems to me that you are making things more complicated than they need to be. I couldn't stand having my bettas in a cloudy drawer where they are hard to see... but as you said, it's not for display.

btw, i'd cut a square hole in the top and attach the square piece with a hinge. just glue the hinge in place with crazy glue or something of the sort. use a small L bracket to keep the door from falling into the tank. much easier feeding method than sliding the entire drawer out imo.

i have considered this idea before but the drawers i was looking at were totally clear with only a support in each corner so you could see all round them. It was the opening and closing i didn't like at all, i wasn't to cut back time so slowly opening them is not really practical form me....but that said there is ways around it if you make holes for pipes for water changes....and way a barrack racking system is more my way forward. Still a good idea tho
