I got a female for him today and he seems very interested...

He HAS NOT made a bubble nest yet...
She has lite vertical stripes on her ..

Earlier when I put them together he was flaring and showing off to her...
She was the only one that didn't swim away from him..
I've put other females other times but they were scared or not prepared...

But the female I put in today is chilled,
He was chasing her around a little an bit of a part of her tale, nothing more...

She is now with vertical stripes (very lighty stripes), and she isn't moving much as she used to..
She is still in the tank, while the male betta fish is flaring and swimming around the tank (he seems very happy)...he isn't hurting her..

Is she preparing the eggs or something?
Why isn't he making the bubble nest?

Thanks guys, please help!

They've been together for about 30 minutes now

The fact that you said you got a female for him today tells me that you haven't conditioned them.
You should feed them up for 2/3 weeks. Don't put them both free swimming in the tank straight away, put the female in a container in the tank so they can see each other.
Make sure she can still get to the surface to breathe.
He should start to build a nest but maybe they aren't keen on each other. not ever male will breed with every female and vice versa.

hope this helps in the . someone who has more experience will probably be along shortly to fill in the gaps :)

Agreed! separate them immediately before you end up with dead fish

if you only got the female today, it sounds like you're try to rush things.
She hasn't even had time to get over the stress of the move.
Betta breeding from what I've learned here is not something to rush into.
I would take her out & put her into her own tank & let her settle, then read up on how to breed Bettas before trying again
There are a few people here who will be able to advise you better

You may not be getting a bubble nest because the temperature of the water is off. Nest building happens best at 80F, 27C. As has already been said, do not place the fish together until both are properly conditioned. It sounds like your female is ready to go in terms of being willing but she should be swollen with eggs when she is released into the tank with the male. Do not condition your fish where they can see each other. Once conditioned you can place the female in the tank using a chimney so that she is easy to release when it looks like they are both ready to breed. The vertical zigzag stripes on the female are a certain sign for her.
