ok, i am wanting 2 breed fighters, so i looked thru internet, and i have a set up i ithink is ok. it is a 5 gallon tank, it has a divider half way thru, male on one side, 2 females on the other, i bought them bout 15 mins ago. how does this sound? the females are fighting though. any ideas?

Not too sure on the breeding of bettas, however from what I have read I think you only need a male and 1 female to breed. Isnt there anywhere you can put the other female? Then see what happens, Good luck!!! :good:

Females will be aggressive and it is normally advised that you keep them on thier own or in a soroity and I think it is 4-6 or more to share out any aggession. (just trying to remember details of girls as I do not keep them). Are there any plants/hiding places on both sides of the divider? Your two girls may stay unhappy if kept together I would suggest seperating them. I hope and experienced breeder replies soon to your post!

Females fight just like males you need at least 4 to spread the aggression around. You will end up at the very least with a battered female perhaps a dead one. It usually takes a week or more to get the female in breeding condition with good food.

Why would you spawn them if you bought them 15 minutes ago. You haven't conditioned them and just because you have the set up doesn't mean you have the baby food, grow out tanks, and all that ready. From what I see you aren't even halfway ready to spawn bettas. I suggest you take your male out, seperate your females or put them in a larger tank and do some research and preparation first.
