Hey, y'all. :)

Somebody just was telling me the other day: My 10-gallon tank is over-stocked.

My Mom's all like, "How can that be POSSIBLE?!" and I agree. ^^; ;)

It's a 10-gallon tank, and has:

- 3 mickey mouse platies
- 4 neon tetras
- 1 white cloud mountain minnow

I still need to add around 2 or 3 more mountain minnows, and I *REALLY* want 2 or 3 guppies, simply because, then I can selectively breed them to produce *PINK* ones! ^^;

Lol, please help....

get another tank. That's what we do. I have a nice square 46 Gal tank you could have.

whereas platy's are normally fine in small groups, like your 3, neons and white cloud mountain minnows aren't.
they will be constantly on edge, leading unhappy lives, they need to feel the security that a bigger group provides, but your tank is too small.
you could possible ditch the platy's and get a better shoal of neons and white clouds or vise versa, or as mentioned, just get a bigger tank! lol

LOL. Thanks, but I don't think my Mom wants me to get a tank *THAT* big, and I don't have enough money to buy it. *tears* :'(

I *MIGHT* buy a 20-gallon sometime in the near future....! :D But then the 10-gallon would be used as half Mr. Wimpy Fish and half fry tank or somethings, soooooes, yeahs. :(

Do you think that a 20-gallon would be enough to hold all the fish that I want? But LOL I'm not quite sure if a 20-gallon would be too heavy along with the 10-gallon on my dresser in my room, soooes.... Yeah. It's pretty sturdy, though; what do you think? ;)

I would say that a 20 gallon will fit what you want at the moment...but I'm pretty sure that down the road you will want more :) Multiple tank syndrome has been plaguing the hobby for years!

lol, its a curse isnt it, as soon as you get one set up every chance you have to get another one you do.

If your mom doesn't want you to have more than 2 tanks in your room, why not just get rid of the 10g and get yourself a 30g+? Save up a little bit. It's worth it imo. If it can't go on your dresser you can just build your own stand, way cheaper than buying one.

By weight do you mean weight on the floor or on your dresser? If it's the floor, don't worry, a 30g won't come crashing through the floor. If it's your dresser, can you not just build a stand for it?

A 20 gal filled with water will be 225 lb Your 10 gal is 111 lb.

If I were you I would ask for a bigger tank to put in the kids part of the basment. That sounds perfect to me. Check craigslist.com for cheap even free tanks.

I second the basement idea. We are getting our basement finished right now and I'm getting a fishroom down there. I'm pretty stoked!
