Rabid Betta Activist
So, as we all may know by now, I just had one of my bettas make a miraculous recovery from columnaris. It was a ton of hard work and crossed fingers on my part, but he is doing fine. However, today, I *thought* I saw a cloudy eye, and immediately freaked out, assuming he had a bacterial infection or parasite. So, I rushed about trying to find an aquarium with a hood light to better see him (mine currently have custom hoods for the hot weather, so no light) and determine if he was ill. After moving him and all of his things into a 2.5 gallon with a hood light - and thus, lugging his tank around to empty it, carrying water jugs up and down the stairs, etc. - I see... no problem whatsoever. It seems that as he is aging, his color is changing, and part of the questionable eye has simply turned blue. No cloudiness; just color change. So, all that panic and effort for nothing! But I'm glad I did it, because if he suddenly ended up with pop eye just because I didn't check, I'd be one sad lass. I'm keeping him in the 2.5 for the time being, so I can better moniter his fin re-growth.
