Ah, the joys of online ordering, and more!
I have four beautiful Brochis arcuata (ex-Corydoras arcuatum), and all are females. So when they showed up from my favourite online seller of South American fish, I ordered six more. I want some males. They arrived this week, and are very healthy little fish. Some ARE males.
The seller had bought them as skunk Corys, the trade name for several species. And closer examination of the fish in quarantine says my 4 females are out of luck for now, as I have Hoplisoma granti here - another skunk Cory.
Everyone was honest and ethical, but those English names for fish - now I'll have to wait months to breed granti when those arcuata females are really ready to supply my friend with the lfs with new fish.
I'll get pictures later in the thread.
Betrayed by trade names and buying sight unseen. The seller hadn't spotted the difference (it's the size of the snout) and had sent them in good faith. I mean, they are skunk Corys....
