Hi everyone i know i posted it in the wrong place i was reading something about discus at the time. My tank has ended up all male due to the fact my fish are still young and when i got them i was told they were to small to sex positivly. So i toke a gamble at the moment my tank is stocked to the max as it is only 120l. I have 2 afras 3neon spots 3 orange hongis 4labs though i think 2 of the labs are female im waiting for my lfs to put a tank on speciel its a juwel trigon 190l.It goes up for half price in 2 weeks inc the stand when i bought the fish i new i would have to move them i just thought it migh not be so soon. They are all feeding well and healthy and since my first post i have put more rock in and they have been better with each other.thanks for the replys im going to post some pictures soon.WATCH THIS SPACE.

its always a gamble buying young cichlids. ive just bought about 10 of each (maingano and afra hara), with the intent of bringing them up to a decent size, selecting the best males and females and passing whats left on. thats the only way you can do it unless your buying adult fish.

Yes,, larger tank will help considerably.
Many species of cichlids can get along when small, but as they reach sexual maturity, problems arise.
African cichlids which are often smaller than South american cichlids tend to claim caves,or a specific object (Rock), while larger cichlids like the south american or central american cichlids ten to claim floor space which can be considerable.
More rock, caves ,more room, will help with the smaller africans.
55 gal tank while not much room front to back, would be my aim if possible, with larger yet if I could afford it.
