Being as I'm from the US, I'm used to talking about my tanks in US Gallons. A lot of you out there are posting from the UK, and prefer the metric system. Personally, I also like metric, but never got around to figuring out tank sizes in Liters... until now. Here's a quick reference guide for people in the US and elsewhere, who have tanks made by All Glass Aquarium (http://www.aqueonproducts.com/) and wish to know their tank sizes in Liters.

I hope everyone finds this to be helpful.

I just found out that this site doesn't like tabbed spaces, or even many spaces entered with spacebar... Now it's edited a little more clearly.

might be worth mentioning this to a mod, i'm not sure exactly what you mean but i have no issues of this type. what browser you on?

IE7

I tried to put the data in like this:

Tank [space here] Dimensions [space here] Liters

and it came out like this:

Tank Dimensions Liters

This was regardless of using the tab key on the keyboard or the spacebar. It looked great in the WYSIWYG editor, but displayed horribly after being posted.

ah ha got you. never had that problem. but that is because i have never tried to do that. just tried and it does the same to me.

The boards Aquarium Calculator will take feet/inches/meters/centimeters and reckon in Imperial/US Gallons or Liters.

As for formatting, many of the forums already have html formatting enabled, I'll check to see if this one does. A crude but often effective way is to use code tags.

Ours has more options then that one.

Why take inches and put them into litres? It's far easier to measure in cm, times them all up and divide by 1,000 for litres.

I agree with LL though, far easier to just use the calculator at the top.

Formatting with html does not seem to be enabled in here, I've asked on the mod board if this is accident or design.

A lot of boards have the HTML function disabled probubly for security reasons.

andywg, whats with the old guy in your avator?

To work out the volume of water in the tank

measure the Length x Width x Height in cm
divide by 1000
equals volume in litres.

When measuring the height, measure from the top of the gravel to the top of the water level. If you have rocks or wood in the tank, remove them before measuring the height.

When measuring really big tanks with 10mm glass (or thicker) measure the inside dimensions, not the outside.

Hitler didn't have a beard. He had a little mostache that went a little way across his top lip. Then he had a big hole in the side of his head where he shot himself at the end of the war.
