considering dividing my 64L tank into a betta home for 3....what and where do you get dividers etc from? and how do you install them/?...i have a bow front tank

Ahh, you're planning to do the same as me! With the same tank!

When the time comes, I'm going to try and find some sheets of acrylic and cut the dividers myself. I was just thinking, you just have to cut the acrylic at different lengths and slot it in? But, if you want it to be very stable, you might want to empty the tank and get some aquarium silicone so you can stick it to the back of the tank.
Also, don't forget to make it a few cm above the surface so the boys can't jump into each others section :good:

When I split my 130l Shrimp tank, I got a peice of 6mm glass and siliconed it in place. Mind you, you may not want something that permanent I guess!

I too use Penn Plax Dividers, on a Bowfronted however the only way i can think of it working is if you make them yourself using Plastic Canvas (the type you use for cross stitch) & Binders that way they fit exactly to your tank

I use pennplax dividers bought off eBay. I can't see these working on a bow front though. Nosure what to do with a bow front....

I have just bought a 10g tank which im wanting to split into 2 and have 2 male bettas.

I have bought a penn plax divider off ebay but it hasnt come yet. Before i bought it i asked the seller if it was clear but they didnt respond. I did my own research and was told by a few ppl that they are like a milky white and have seen that quite a few people use them on here for seperating bettas. I'm adopting a Betta who im told doesnt mix well with other fish and thats why he's being re-homed but im wanting to also buy another 1 and get 1 with a different tail and colourings as i love the purple and pink bettas. I was just wondering if a penn plax divider will be ok as i dont want the betta im adopting to be stressed seeing another betta swimming at the side of him, i was also told he would butt the divider with his head by my LFS.

Have you ever had any problems seperating bettas with the penn plax dividers and what are they like exactly please?

Thanks :)

the quick way to divide a tank is to use a sheet of polyester material made for use with needlepoint work. It is dirt cheap to buy and can be cut to shape and size easily with a pair of scissors. The open mesh means good water flow and the edges can easily be set in place using report binder edges. Just attach the binder edges to the glass using silicone and slip your dividers in place.

That's a really great idea! I have seen tanks using that mesh and never realized where it came from, and I used to needlepoint!

Dividers always scare me though- I've heard so many stories (including in this forum) about bettas jumping over or slipping through and doing serious damage to each other.
