r u fishless cycling, cos when i was it stunk of ammonia?

Hi lately I have had brown algae and a bit of bright green growing in my tank. The glass at the back of the tank seems to grow the most. but I also get some on my plants leaves. Why is this? My lights are on 8am till 10am then 4pm till 11pm. is this a factor? I've still got the standerd lighting that my tank came eith Four months ago. should I change it? should I cut down on the amout of time the lights are on? What sort of lighting should I go for?

My tank is a 42G rena.

Does your tank get much sunlight? In the summer my tank is usually covered in algae .
