Hi there,

Well this is all very new to me. Ive done readings of all kinds of fish and the set ups and what not. Well im not starting with anything special here, just some random fish and a albino softshell turtle. I am a reptile guy myself but wanted to try out an aquarium. Now all the fish are doing great, its been two months and they're all still alive so I think so far so good. I noticed today I had some redish algae building up on the glass. I remember reading somewhere red isnt good. Just wondering what it was? Thanks

If it more brown than red it is probably some form of diatom algae which usually stops appearing once the tank has settled in. Some fish eat it, some snails eat it, or you can buy a scraper/magnet cleaner and clean it off before each water change.
